A fundamental long/short equity hedge fund is hiring an analyst to cover Japanese consumer, retail and internet.
About the Role
You will cover the Japanese consumer complex from Hong Kong, spanning JP equities consumer, retail and internet names, and working the sector end to end from upstream through to the listed brands and platforms. The fund wants a rigorous fundamental framework paired with live portfolio judgement, and someone who adjusts their view when the market pushes back rather than defending a thesis past the evidence.
Requirements
- Five or more years of buy-side or sell-side experience covering Japanese consumer, retail and internet companies in the secondary market, upstream and downstream
- A solid understanding of, and trading experience in, thematic investing and sector rotation in Japanese equities
- A research framework and monitoring process grounded in fundamentals, with the flexibility to adjust views in response to market feedback
- Local insight paired with a global mindset: close tracking of global consumer, retail and internet sectors and adjacent verticals, and genuine interest in cross-region and cross-sector collaborative research
- Hong Kong based, or willing to relocate
