A Hong Kong-based, SFC-licensed asset manager investing across Asia-Pacific public and private markets is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its expanding Legal & Compliance team.
About the Role
This is a newly created position, suited to a lawyer with 4-9 years of experience. You will work alongside the Legal & Compliance and Business Teams across fund documentation, securities and private transactions, commercial contracting and regulatory filings, in a firm where the legal function sits close to the investment process.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and maintain investment fund constitutional and offering documents, and support the development of new products
• Execute and manage securities transactions across public and private markets
• Lead or support the negotiation and documentation of private equity investments
• Draft, negotiate and organise commercial agreements and Hong Kong / US regulatory filings
• Negotiate ISDA and brokerage agreements with prime brokers and counterparties
• Provide advisory support and general legal advice to internal teams and international offices
• Manage the implementation and enforcement of internal policies and external regulations
• Support the Legal & Compliance team on compliance monitoring and routine tasks
• Work with the wider Business Team on ad-hoc projects and initiatives, collaborating to maintain an institutional-quality legal programme
Qualifications
• Law degree - JD, LLB or LLM
• 4-9 years' legal experience, including at least 2 years in asset management, finance or securities
• Excellent written and verbal English and Chinese
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time
• Proactive, detail-oriented problem solver with sound business acumen and judgement
• Organised and independent multitasker who thinks strategically and works with limited supervision
• Team player with a growth mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to the firm's success
